November Style, Beauty, and Entertainment Favorites
/Welcome to my monthly favorite recommendations, where I will tell you about products and other things I've been loving from the previous month. I don't think I will do them at the end of every month, probably more like every other, but their main goal will be to give you guys some reviews of products I've been using and loving. Unfortunately, I have not been able to do one of these for the past few months, with moving and starting work full time again, things just got a little crazy, so I’m excited to be bringing it back this month. Unless otherwise noted, none of these posts will be sponsored or paid for by any of these brands, they will just be my honest opinion of things I've been trying lately. And of course, if they are sponsored, everything will still be my own opinions. So without further ado, let's get into my November favorites!
Style: Pura Vida Jewelry
I have been a fan of Pura Vida for quite some time now. Not only do I love their style of jewelry, but their company mission. As it states on their website: ““Pura Vida” means “pure life” in Spanish, a Costa Rican philosophy that encourages the appreciation of life’s simple treasures.” A philosophy which suits them very well. If you are unfamiliar with them, Pura Vida is a company that works with artisans around the world to create their unique jewelry. They have partnered with over 174 different charities around the world and have donated more than $1,534,879.20 to various causes. So when you shop with them you can feel confident that your money is not only getting you some really cute jewelry, but will also go to supporting some great causes. They have so many options that suit all personalities and styles, and every piece is uniquely made. And I am now proud to say that I am an official rep for the company! So if you use my code KOHARA20, you can get 20% off of your next purchase. Not only will I get a small kickback, but you will also be giving your money to a great cause. So make sure to check out their website by clicking here to learn more about all of the great things they are doing to help communities around the world.
Hair: Kristen Ess Air Dry Creme
My cousin gave me this product as a gift, and I’m so glad she did, because I love it. I like to mix up products I put in my hair while it is drying, and have only found a few products that I actually continue to use because they work well. This is one of them. Along with my hair lotion from my April Favorites post, it is one of the few hair products I continue to use because it just works so well. My hair tends to get super frizzy when I let it air dry, so I like to put this in while it is still damp to help tame that frizz. Not only does it do that, but it also just makes my hair feel soft and smooth. You also don’t need to use a ton of product, so it has also lasted me quite a while. I highly recommend checking this out if you are just looking for something to run through your hair to make it feel softer once it is dry.
You can buy it on Kristin’s website by clicking here, but it also available at Target and a few other stores if you want to buy in person.
Beauty: Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
If you have read my other posts about my makeup routines, you will know that I honestly try not to wear too much makeup on a daily basis. But no matter how much makeup I do end up wearing, I have to be able to remove it before I go to bed, or when I get home for the day. I have tried a lot of different products to help remove my makeup, and most of them either were not effective or irritated my skin. Once I tried the Neutrogena wipes though, I instantly fell in love, and have not used anything else since. Not only do they not irritate my skin, but I can get pretty much any amount of makeup off with just one wipe. They have quite a few different scents you can choose from, I often get the nigh calming ones since I use them before bed, and it honestly does help relax me a bit.
One thing I will say, they are a little pricy for how many wipes you actually get in pack, but I don’t wear makeup everyday so they last me quite a while. They are also very effective at removing all of the makeup, so you definitely get your money’s worth with them as far as quality. But, if you are someone who wears a ton of makeup every day, they may not be the best option for you financially. However, they are also great for traveling as they aren’t liquid, so you can have them in a carry on bag, and you know they won’t spill or make a mess. So even if they aren’t a product you would want to buy for every day use, they would be a great option to have for when you are traveling.
You can pick these up at almost any drug store, or click here to buy them online!
Movie: Widows
Widows is a story of four women who lead very different lifestyles and are all brought together by the deaths of their husbands. When they find out their spouses died while working together on a robbery job, these now widows are left to clean up the mess, and pay back the debt their husbands acquired in their line of work. There were so many things I loved about this movie. Not only did it have awesome and incredibly strong female leads, but it also had a well executed heist plot that had me on the edge of my seat the entire movie. It also offered an extremely talented and diverse cast, along side a story that was able to say a lot in its most subtle moments. If you haven’t seen the film yet, keep your eye out for one of my favorite scenes in which two characters are driving from a poorer area of town to a higher class area. It is such a unique shot in that you can still hear the character’s conversation while the car is in motion, but you can’t see them, you are only able to look at the people and areas they are driving past. It is such smart and unique scenes and stylistic choices like this that made this movie stand out amongst the many action films we saw this year. Also Viola Davis is in the starring role, so you know it has to be good!
This movie is still in select theaters, so make sure you check it out before it’s gone!
TV Show: GLOW
I’ve been hearing about GLOW for a while now amongst people at work and in the industry, and to be honest, at first I was not very interested. A show about female wrestlers? Not up my ally. But when I gave the show a chance, I learned that it was so much more than that, and since recently finishing the second season, it has jumped to a top spot on my list of favorite shows ever. A show about found family, finding your place in society, and female empowerment, GLOW is so much more than just being about wrestling. If you are unfamiliar, GLOW is a Netflix original set in the 80s that focuses on a group of unknown actresses who all get cast on a new show also called GLOW (AKA the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling). They must learn to work together to make it a success, and get past their many differences if they want to succeed. Based on the real show of the same name, GLOW takes a look not only into the world of female wrestling and television, but also how these somewhat outcast girls become a family, and are able to show their creativity off in a new way for their time. If you haven’t already checked it out, I highly recommend it, not only for it’s amazing portrayal of found family and female power, but for its story telling ability, and comedic genius.
You can watch the entire show now on Netflix.
So there you have it, some of the things that I was loving this past month. Let me know if you end up trying any of these products or entertainment below, and how they work for you. And, as always, give this post a like if you want to see more content like it!
