April Favorites

IMG_1763.jpg

This post will be the first of my monthly favorite recommendations, where I will tell you about products and other things I've been loving from the previous month. I don't think I will do them at the end of every month, probably more like every other, but their main goal will be to give you guys some reviews of products I've been using and loving. Unless otherwise noted, none of these posts will be sponsored or paid for by any of these brands, they will just be my honest opinion of things I've been trying lately. And of course, if they are sponsored, everything will be my own opinions. So without further ado, let's get into my April favorites!

Style: Billabong Floral Backpack

If you haven't been able to tell from my Instagram account, I've recently been obsessed with floral things. Please note the cover-up and bathing suit I'm wearing in these photos are also both floral... So naturally, when I was looking for a new backpack, I wanted one with a floral patterning. I had been using the same backpack since college, and a few months ago, I decided it was time to retire it. It was a good bag but was not very in style, so I decided to invest in a better one from Billabong because I've loved their products in the past. I love this bag because it has two main pockets, side pockets for water bottles, and a laptop holder inside. It is also super durable and holds a ton of stuff. I have already used it for multiple flights, and to go to the beach, and it worked great for both. Unfortunately, this pattern is no longer available on the Billabong website, but they have an extremely similar one with a slightly different pattern, which I have a link for below. And if you want this exact bag, I have an Amazon link to it below as well!

Buy this pattern of backpack here on Amazon.

Hair: Lush R&B Hair Moisturizer

I bought this product for the first time shortly before moving out to L.A., because I wanted something to help rejuvenate my hair from the harsh humidity in Philly. Something you will learn about me if you continue to follow me on this blog is that I love products from Lush. If you are unfamiliar with the brand, they only make their products from all natural ingredients such as honey, lavender, etc. They also are 100% vegan and do not test any product on animals. If you want to see more of their products and learn more about them, click here to visit their site.

Anyway, back to the hair moisturizer. Just like your skin, hair needs to stay hydrated as well. Between styling it, the L.A. heat, and using my curling iron on it constantly, my hair easily gets very dry. So, combined with using conditioner in the shower, I love using this hair moisturizer to help my hair out. Not only does it smell amazing, but it honestly does help make my hair feel softer and healthier. I don't use it every day, but I do like to run it through my hair a few times a week when it is damp so that it can work its self in as my hair dries. I also sometimes use it to help with flyaways when styling my hair. Trust me, if you have thick, dry, or curly hair, you will definitely notice a difference using this stuff!

You can buy it here on Lush.

Beauty: Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer SPF 15

My friend Alyssa recommended this face moisturizer to me in college, and I have been using it ever since. I don't always use face moisturizer, it's a habit I should probably practice more since I wear a lot of makeup, but this past month especially, I found myself using it a lot. My skin tends to get super dry when the weather drastically changes, so with the warmer weather this month, my skin definitely needed some extra love. This stuff from Simple is great, and I love it because after I put it on, I honestly can't tell it is there, except that my skin is noticeably softer. It is great to put on before your makeup because it won't affect the other products and can be used as a good base. And, an added bonus, it has SPF 15 in it, which is a plus for those of you like me with fair skin. I honestly hope they make the exact same product with a higher SPF because then it would be the perfect face cream for me.

You can buy it at most local drugstores, or by going to Simple Skincare's website.

Movie: The Greatest Showman

I had wanted to see this movie when it first came out, but just never got around to it. But this month I finally just bought it on DVD (yes I still buy them) and have since watched it at least three or four times. The soundtrack is so catchy and smart, and I currently have it on repeat at work. It feels like a lot of films being released now have to be bigger and better, crude, and full of action and gory to get attention. But breaking through that mold is this heartwarming little movie about a man with a dream. It is so refreshing to see a movie with such a simple positive message and to watch something that just instantly puts you in a good mood. Not to mention it has an amazing cast, including Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, and Zendaya. If you are looking for something fun and charming to put you in a good mood, I highly recommend this one!

This movie is now available On Demand, and DVD.

TV Show: The Bold Type

I watched the first few episodes of this show live, but then I missed a few and so I figured I would just binge it all once the first season was done. This month I finally did that, and I'm so glad I did because I absolutely loved it. Not only is it just such a great portrayal of female friendship, but it covers so many relatable topics that all women can identify with. From going on job interviews to trying to rise up in the ranks, making mistakes at work, and figuring out relationships, each episode explores topics that we all have dealt with and can relate to. Not to mention it shows women in powerful working roles that are strong, confident, and most notably, not bitchy, but instead helpful and kind. I could go on and on, but you will have to just check it for yourself to see what I mean.

You can find the first season on the Freeform app, Hulu, and most On Demand services.

So there you have it, some of the things that I was loving this past month. Let me know if you end up trying any of these products or entertainment below, and how they work for you. And, as always, give this post a like if you want to see more content like it!
