Paley Live Event: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
/Thursday night I attended a Paley Live panel at the Paley Center for Media in New York City. This was a very exciting panel for me, Unbreakable Kimmy Schimidt, which was created by one of my biggest idols Tina Fey. For those of you who may not know The Paley Center for Media in NYC hosts many film and television events throughout the year such as this one, with even more options for their members, which I happen to be. Anyone can buy tickets to most of their events, but if you hear of an event they are hosting that you are interested in, make sure to get your tickets right when they go on sale, because they sell out fast. You can find out more information about the Paley Center by clicking here.
Now more on the panel! I have attended quite a few Paley panels before in Los Angeles such as This is Us, Pretty Little Liars, Riverdale and Stranger Things, which were all incredible experiences (you can check out my post about the Riverdale and Stranger Things panels here). And that continued with this panel which kicked off with a pre-screening to us of one of the yet to be released final episodes. These episodes are now available on Netflix (and yes I did already binged all of them…) so make sure to check them out, as they were a great ending to the show!
In attendance at this panel was Ellie Kemper (Kimmy Schmidt), Tituss Burgess (Titus Andromedon), Jane Krakowski (Jacqueline White), Carol Kane (Lillian Kaushtupper), Tina Fey (Executive Producer), and Robert Carlock (Executive Producer). The event was moderated by Damian Holbrook (TV Guide).
This was my first time attending a television panel in the New York Paley Center, and was unaware just how small the theater space was. It was such an incredible experience seeing this panel with only say 70 people as opposed to the hundreds at the LA events. Tina Fey has been someone in the industry I have looked up to for quite a while now, and so it was amazing getting to hear her talk about her writing and producing process and how she came up with the storyline for Kimmy Schmidt. I also love all of the members of the cast not only from this show but the many other roles they have held as well, so overall it was such a great panel to get to experience. Check out some of the great shots I got with my camera below!
Overall, I had an amazing time at my first Paley Live event, and am looking forward to attending many more in the future.
